Heald Barn
The Carlisle Historical Society was
granted Community Preservation Act funding to rehabilitate
the severely deteriorated exterior of this mid-19th century
barn, located next to its headquarters at the historic Heald
House. Preservation restrictions placed on the
property required all work to conform to The Secretary of
the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic
Properties. The project included structural repairs,
rebuilding sections of the stone foundation, replacement of
clapboard siding, replacement of all window sashes and
doors, replacement of exterior trim, a new asphalt shingle
roof, painting, and restoration of the Victorian cupola. |
