This one-story addition to a 1930's two-story Colonial
Revival home in Carlisle provides needed space for a large
eat-in kitchen. The addition also extends the length
of an existing two car garage in the basement level, at the
end of the house where the grade slopes down to the
driveway, retained by two stone walls. A flat roof
with a traditional balustrade was chosen to allow the
existing windows at the second floor level above to remain.
The old kitchen within the main house was converted to a
mudroom with a coat closet and a built-in computer nook,
connecting the existing back door entry to the new kitchen.
The formal dining room at this end of the main house was
also connected to the new kitchen wing by replacing an
exterior window with interior French doors. |
